The Clean Energy Incubator™ (CEI), powering young clean energy companies to successfully compete within the energy market, has continued to mold the forefront of clean energy business development since its inception in 2001. As the first incubator of its kind, CEI defines its success through the accomplishments of its members.

The Clean Energy Incubator is a program of the Austin Technology Incubator and the IC2 Institute at The University of Texas at Austin and provides valuable resources to early-stage clean energy ventures. The incubator offers members a competitive advantage by providing access to advice from leaders in the community and key players in the clean energy industry, in-house consulting, financing referrals, publicity, and a convenient turnkey office infrastructure.
"Our member companies are the very reason for our existence," said Richard Amato, CEI founding director and past chairman of the Clean Energy Alliance. "Through our network of global leaders and experts, as well as our founding role in the establishment of the alliance, a body of leading business incubators nationwide, we are able to offer our members considerable leverage in penetrating the market."
Ranging from geothermal power and alternative power storage to water conservation, wind power, and waste reduction, CEI has hosted 18 members since 2002. To date, CEI companies have raised more than $6.5 million in start-up capital, generated more than $500,000 each year in revenue, and are creating a unique job market in central Texas. Launched as a joint effort between the Austin Technology Incubator, the Texas State Energy Conservation Office, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the incubator has played a vital role in helping its members create a new economy in the energy market as well as to ultimately benefit the environment for a sustainable future.
